Crawford’s words
“I’m really excited to get behind the wheel and drive for the team in Suzuka. It is a historic circuit but also challenging, and I can’t wait to put what I’ve learned in the simulator into practice“, commented Crawford. “A big thank you to the team for giving me this opportunity. As with my previous FP1 sessions, I’m looking forward to making the most of this opportunity and learning as much as I can“.
The Japanese FP1 will mark Crawford’s on-track debut as the team’s third driver, offering him the opportunity to further integrate with the team over a race weekend, and meets the requirement for teams to dedicate at least four FP1 sessions (two per car) to a rookie.
It is not Crawford’s first experience in Formula 1, as he made his debut in 2025 and again with Aston Martin, although formally not as the third driver. The American had taken part in the weekends in Mexico City and Abu Dhabi.
