The 15th edition of Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2026 concluded with a strong message highlighting Malaysia’s rising position as a high-value, future-ready automotive and mobility hub. The event once again positioned the country at the centre of cross-border collaboration, advanced technologies and regional automotive growth.
Held in Kuala Lumpur, the exhibition brought together 317 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions across 12,538 square metres of exhibition space. A total of 16,523 visitors from 58 countries confirmed strong international confidence in the ASEAN automotive ecosystem and its growing investment potential.
The event showcased a wide spectrum of solutions spanning OEM and aftermarket sectors, including passenger vehicles, commercial transport, motorcycles and logistics. In addition to the exhibition, more than 50 fringe events and over 80 business matching sessions strengthened commercial networking and industry engagement.
Malaysia targets smart mobility leadership
At the opening ceremony, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Haji Hasbi bin Haji Habibollah emphasized the country’s ambition to become a smart and leading automotive market, not just a high car-ownership nation.
Malaysia has set bold targets, aiming for electric vehicles to account for 20% of new car sales by 2030 and 80% by 2050, reflecting a strong commitment to electrification and sustainable mobility transformation.
Strong international participation across ASEAN and beyond
The 2026 edition highlighted Malaysia’s growing role in the global automotive supply chain, with 36% of exhibitors coming from ASEAN countries. Visitors from 58 countries and regions attended the event, with strong representation from China, Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, Vietnam and Korea.
Major global and regional industry players, including BMW, Bosch, Chery, Toyota, Perodua, Petronas, Shopee, Lazada, Valeo and others, participated in the event, reflecting the wide industry coverage from manufacturing to digital commerce.
Focus on digitalisation, EV transition and supply chain integration
Across the exhibition halls, strong emphasis was placed on electric mobility, digital transformation and supply chain integration. The showcase covered automotive mobility solutions, diagnostics, repair technologies, body and paint systems, electrics and electronics, lubricants and customisation services.
Key exhibitors included global and regional brands such as Brembo, TecAlliance, Stellantis, Leoch Battery, TUHU, Yonming and others, representing both upstream and downstream segments of the automotive ecosystem.
Knowledge sharing and technical training drive industry growth
The Automotive Mobility Solutions Conference featured 20 expert speakers discussing mobility trends, EV adoption, renewable energy and regional investment opportunities. More than 560 participants attended the sessions.
Meanwhile, the Collision Repair Training Workshop attracted over 960 participants, focusing on EV repair technologies, AI-based diagnostics, sustainable painting systems and live technical demonstrations, highlighting the importance of hands-on training for industry development.
Automotive culture meets business at autoFEST@KL
The event also celebrated automotive culture through autoFEST@KL, featuring esports competitions, classic car displays, JDM showcases, and interactive experiences that brought together industry and enthusiasts in a dynamic environment.
Strong outlook for regional collaboration
Exhibitors and buyers highlighted the event’s role as a central platform for ASEAN trade and collaboration. The exhibition enabled direct engagement between manufacturers, distributors, workshop operators and technology providers across the global automotive value chain.
Participants from Malaysia, China, Italy, Japan and Myanmar emphasized the event’s effectiveness in connecting markets, sharing expertise and creating new business opportunities across borders.
Next edition confirmed for 2027
The next edition of Automechanika Kuala Lumpur will take place from 8 to 10 April 2027, continuing its role as one of the most important automotive aftermarket and mobility platforms in the ASEAN region.
