Subaru Australia is proud to announce Daniel Bostock from Inchcape Subaru North Shore (NSW) as the winner of the Subaru Australia Technical Competition – the national event that selects Australia’s representative at the Subaru World Technical Competition, held in Japan this December.

The Subaru Australia Technical Competition is one of the most demanding professional proving grounds in the automotive industry. Selected from across the Subaru dealer network based on their technical expertise and performance, each finalist first sat a rigorous online test, with only the top five advancing to the national stage. They represent the very best of a profession that demands precision, dedication and an intimate knowledge of some of the most sophisticated vehicles on Australian roads. To reach this stage is a significant achievement.
This year’s competition brought five exceptional technicians together for a fierce two-hour series of hands-on diagnostic and technical challenges. Each challenge was designed to push competitors beyond routine service work and into the kind of high-pressure, high-stakes problem-solving that defines elite technical ability.
The five finalists who represented the Subaru network were Ben Figdor (Inchcape Subaru Glen Waverley, VIC), Daniel Bostock (Inchcape Subaru North Shore, NSW), Jake Brandley (Llewellyn Subaru, QLD), James Gallien (Beer Subaru, VIC) and Jesse Roberts (Cricks Subaru Maroochydore, QLD). The standard on the day was outstanding, and Subaru Australia is proud to congratulate each of them on the commitment and skill they demonstrated.
But for one technician, the competition did not end there. Daniel Bostock from Inchcape Subaru North Shore was named the winner of the Subaru Australia Technical Competition and will now represent Australia at the Subaru World Technical Competition in Japan — the pinnacle of the global Subaru technical calendar.
Australia has won the Subaru World Technical Competition at each of the past two consecutive competitions, establishing the country as a genuine powerhouse of Subaru technical excellence on the world stage. Daniel will carry that legacy with him to Japan, competing against the best technicians from Subaru markets around the world.
Subaru Australia’s General Manager, Scott Lawrence, said: “The Subaru Australia Technical Competition is one of the most important events on our calendar, and it never fails to remind us of the extraordinary talent we have across our dealer network.
“Technicians are the backbone of the Subaru ownership experience — they are the people our customers trust with their vehicles and watching them compete at this level is genuinely awe-inspiring. This competition is about more than finding a winner. It’s a professional development opportunity that pushes every participant to raise their standard and take real pride in their expertise. The fact that Australia has won the World Technical Competition for two consecutive years reflects just how seriously we take that commitment to excellence. We are enormously proud of Daniel, and of every technician who competed this year.”
Beyond the competition itself, the event serves as a powerful signal of Subaru Australia’s ongoing investment in the skills and professional growth of the people who represent the brand every day. In a rapidly evolving automotive landscape — with increasingly advanced vehicle technology and electrification— technical excellence is not just a competitive advantage; it is a commitment to every Subaru customer.
Daniel Bostock now joins a distinguished list of Australian representatives who have competed on the world stage. Subaru Australia and the entire dealer network will be behind him as he steps up to compete against the best in the world.
