The overtaking on the Haas was a bittersweet weekend for the Racing Bulls in Montreal, where the Faenza team could leave the circuit named after Gilles Villeneuve with satisfaction and some regrets. On the one hand, thanks above all to the 7th place obtained by Liam Lawson, the team managed to overtake Haas in the Constructors’ standings, positioning itself in sixth position behind Alpine. The biggest challenges Excellent performance by the New Zealand driver, who in the final part of the GP managed to repel the attacks of Gasly’s Alpine two weeks after the controversy that arose following the contact between the two in Miami: “After a difficult start to the weekend, finishing in seventh position is certainly a good result for us, so it’s nice to bring home points for the team – he commented – overall, it wasn’t an easy race. We made up ground compared to the start, but we also struggled with the balance of the car and we lacked a bit of speed throughout the race. The biggest challenge was maintaining the right tire temperature, which we only managed to do in the full throttle laps. Alpine was faster than us today and Pierre didn’t make my life easy at the end of the race when I was on the soft tyres, so I’m happy to have defended my position. The clutch stops Lindblad In the points in the Sprint, unlike his teammate, Arvid Lindblad was unable to take part in the start due to a clutch failure which occurred at the moment of the start, which was postponed by a lap due to the delay in turning off the red lights: “We had a problem with the clutch at the start of the formation lap, which prevented me from taking part in the race. I was really excited to get out on the track and drive in mixed conditions, so I didn’t have the chance to to do so is obviously disappointing. It’s a real shame because up to that point the weekend had been really positive. The team worked flawlessly throughout the weekend and the updates we brought were delivering great results, so it’s frustrating that we didn’t get the result we felt we deserved today. There are still a lot of positives to look at for the next race and I’m very confident to get back on track and drive a Formula 1 car for the first time.”
