Sydney May 2026 – After twelve years of dedicated leadership, Kia Australia CEO Damien Meredith will shift into an advisory role, ensuring a smooth transition as COO Dennis Piccoli assumes the CEO position from 1 June 2026.
During his tenure with Kia Australia, which started in May 2014, Mr Meredith played a pivotal role in shaping Kia’s strategy, strengthening the culture, and positioning the organisation for continued success.
Most notably was the introduction of Kia’s market-defining seven-year warranty, mere months after joining. This pioneering decision in the Australian market, combined with his strong dealer relations, clear strategic and people-focused priorities, contributed to a rise in sales from 28,005 in 2014 to a record 82,105 in 2025 – marking a 193% increase.
In 2021 he also oversaw the biggest brand transition in Kia Australia history with the successful launch of the new Kia logo and ‘Movement That Inspires’ ethos. Further fuelling this growth was his sharp focus on best-practice leverage of the Australian Open partnership, a defining asset in Kia’s strategy.
Speaking about the transition, Mr Meredith, who spent over two decades with the Hyundai Motor Group after also holding senior roles at Hyundai Motor Company Australia, said:
“In business and in life, I’ve always said care is the most important word. For me, finding motivated people who care and building a strategy with them has been the most rewarding aspect of my time at Kia. That, and building and maintaining a strong relationship with our Dealer network.”
“Now, I look forward to staying connected in an advisory role and ensuring a smooth transition with Dennis as the new CEO.”
Mr Piccoli, who has moved from Head of Sales to COO, and now CEO said this about Damien and his desire to lead Kia into the next chapter of growth and innovation.
“I’ve worked with Damien for well over a decade across two OEMs and have sincerely valued his counsel and direction along the journey. I’m very privileged to transition into the CEO role here at Kia and look forward to working with the team to enhance the brand, its innovation and forward momentum.”
Mr Piccoli, who has previously held roles at General Motors and Hyundai brings a deep understanding of the OEM landscape and the Kia business, its people and customers to the role.
Having worked closely with Damien and the leadership team since he joined Kia, he is well placed to build on the brands strong foundations and ensure continuity while driving the strategic priorities forward.
