Red Bull is in crisis
“Anyone who claims that these are good races understands nothing about motoring. These are not races and I would say the same things even if I were winning”. Max Verstappen for some time he has not missed an opportunity to harshly criticize the regulations underlying the 2026 F1 championship.
The Red Bull driver in testing defined these cars “Formula E on steroids” and in both Australia and China he returned to the attack with certainly not edifying statements unlike, for example, the Ferrari drivers (according to Lewis Hamilton, these cars are even giving him the best racing experience he has ever experienced in his career).
Verstappen’s outbursts have prompted words of dissent from Gunther Steiner and Ralf Schumacher, but among the voices ‘against’ that of the Dutchman it is quite impressive to also include that of his ‘brother-in-law’ Nelson Piquet juniorbrother of Kelly who is Max Verstappen’s partner. “If you ask Max what his best year in F1 was, he won’t tell you the one in which he won in the last race, but the one in which he won with five races to spare because if it were up to him he would always want to win and for this reason you need to have the best car on the grid – said podcast guest Nelson Piquet junior Pelas Pistas – given the situation, it’s normal for him to speak badly of the 2026 rules, but if he were behind the wheel of a Mercedes he would be as quiet as a fly and wouldn’t say a word.”
