OK from the Municipality Excellent news has arrived from the last meeting of the Monza City Council, which finally gave the ‘green light’ to the modernization interventions necessary to make the National Autodrome more modern and welcoming, as well as closer to the requests of Formula 1. The aim of the works, which will begin in the next few weeks, will be to guarantee a more secure future in the calendar after the contract expires in 2031. The plan The 40 million euro project essentially involves three interventions: the first will be the covering one permanent of the box building, with a structure of over 5,000 square metres, mostly glass and with photovoltaic panels. High-level hospitality areas will be built right here which will definitively replace the temporary ones set up for each GP. Added to this will be a new press room of approximately 1,794 square meters which will host the media, FIA offices and refreshment areas. The works for the construction of the latter will begin in the next few days, while all the other interventions will begin at the end of this year’s Italian Grand Prix. Finally, there will be the new race direction in the Parc Fermé area and close to the medical center of the racetrack. This, on two floors, will be larger and more technologically advanced, with glass offices overlooking the runway and a more modern control room. The plan foresees the conclusion of the interventions by the next edition of the GP. “We are extremely satisfied with the outcome of the passage in the City Council, which represents a decisive moment for the future of our plant. The almost unanimous consensus expressed in the vote testifies to the shared value of this project and the awareness of the strategic importance of the Autodromo for the territory and for the country which generates a turnover of around 250 million euros. I would like to express heartfelt thanks to the Automobile Club of Italy, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to the Lombardy Region, to the Monza Park Consortium, to the Valle Lambro Regional Authority, to the Municipality of Monza, to the Superintendence and to all the territorial bodies and institutions for the loyal and concrete collaboration demonstrated in recent years. It is precisely thanks to this synergy between national and territorial bodies that we can confidently face future challenges. This collaboration must be maintained and further strengthened, so that continuity, development and a peaceful future can be guaranteed at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, preserving its central role in the international motorsport panorama”, declared the President of the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Giuseppe Redaelli.
