Hamilton-Leclerc will still be the Ferrari couple in 2027 “Yes”. Thus the Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur in an interview granted to Corriere della Sera responded affirmatively to the question relating to Lewis Hamilton’s stay in Ferrari in 2027. The seven-time world champion arrived in Maranello in 2025 and in February 2024 the signing of a multi-year contract was announced which according to rumors was divided into a 2+1 in which the ‘+1’ option for 2027 was in favor of Hamilton, who essentially was able to ‘choose’ whether or not to extend his adventure in Ferrari. After a difficult 2025, 2026 began with a completely different tune. Vasseur gave his interpretation of why a long running-in period was necessary: ”I had underestimated the transition from the Mercedes world to the Ferrari one, everything was new for him and Lewis is not one of those drivers who change every two-three years, like Sainz. Now he knows the tools, the people and our methods. With the good results he has entered a positive spiral.” The number one on the Ferrari pitwall, however, doesn’t want to hear about a tailor-made SF-26 for Hamilton: “Not at all, we don’t make tailor-made F1. At most the cars can be created following the indications of the drivers, their inputs are important, but we’re talking about marginal differences.”
