Lambiase to McLaren in 2028 During F1’s forced April break, certainly the most surprising news was Gianpiero Lambiase’s farewell to Red Bull for the 2028 season.
The head of the team’s engineers, as well as Max Verstappen’s track engineer, has in fact decided to accept the offer from McLaren, where he will hold the role of Chief Racing Officer. Why does Lambiase leave Red Bull? At the same time as the news, it immediately emerged that McLaren’s proposal to Lambiase was one that was difficult to renounce.
Max Verstappen then hinted as much in an interview in the following days: “He explained to me the type of offer he received and I told him that he would be stupid not to accept it.” Even more direct and explicit was Jos Verstappen on platform
Max’s dad cut it short: “Because they offer him a lot of money!”, leaving very little room for interpretation.
Jos Verstappen: “Lambiase leaves because they offer him a lot of money”
