The road map in Maranello is clear As the latest issue of Autosprint underlined, the ADUO is not a switch that, once flipped, is capable of magically giving a power unit the horsepower that currently separates it from the best in the class. The weekly historian compared the ADUO to the helm of an oil tanker, because when a ‘route’ is set it is actually taken several miles after the manoeuvre. Regardless of the FIA verdict which will determine how much Ferrari will be able to intervene on its power unit, the online edition of Il Corriere della Sera has outlined the Scuderia di Maranello’s roadmap on the timing and methods of intervention for the development of the power unit. According to what was reported by corriere.it, Ferrari’s objective was to build an advanced power unit to be mounted in the Belgian GP (scheduled for 17 to 19 July) on which to then work as quickly as possible through any ADUO permits after the Canadian GP. The areas of intervention concern a revision of the materials and an advanced architecture that can be installed on the SF-26 through appropriate hardware and cooling system modifications. The fact that the FIA has already established that in 2027 the ratio between the thermal component and the electrical component with regards to power will change – from the current 50 and 50 to a 60 to 40 in favor of the thermal component – will impose new changes to the dimensions of the components, a factor that all manufacturers will have to take into consideration when they begin to intervene on power units using ADUO.
