The game of roles continues in F1 The path towards the revision of the 2026 regulations has just entered its key moment: today is a crucial day to address and resolve the problems that emerged in Formula 1 during the first three races. In the previous weeks, two meetings have already taken place between the technicians of the Federation and those of the teams, accompanied by a direct discussion also with the drivers, but the moment to put the classic pen to paper is approaching. And to arrive at solutions that satisfy everyone at least in terms of safety and qualifications, we need to go through a completely natural game of roles, between those who do everything to revolutionize the regulations and those who want to maintain the status quo as much as possible. Mercedes, winner of the first three GPs of the new era, is certainly part of the second group. The Brackley team is the one with the best start in the new regulations, and Toto Wolff does not want to lose the advantage he has acquired. Wolff’s words “The discussions between the FIA, F1, teams and drivers have been constructive, we all share the same objectives. It’s about understanding how to improve the product, making it a real competition and evaluating what we can improve in terms of safety. But we must act with surgical precision, not with a baseball bat”, these are the words of the Austrian team principal. “We are arriving at some good solutions that we will ratify, hopefully today, in order to improve,” he added. “We’re only in the third race. We have to learn from the past, where sometimes decisions were made erratically, and then we went over the line and realized it wasn’t right. We are the custodians of the sport and I’m cautiously optimistic that we will improve the races while protecting what’s really good.”
