I renew Leclerc, Alesi: “With Hamilton the pair can work, but clarity is needed in the roles, one guide does not prevail over the other”

Alesi and Leclerc ‘different twins’ Charles Leclerc and Ferrari made the renewal of the Monegasque driver’s contract official on the eve of the Monaco GP. Leclerc was not out of contract and the renewal further cements the Leclerc-Ferrari combination. Lewis Hamilton has been a ‘guest’ in a Ferrari since 2025 which has been Leclerc’s home since 2019 and will remain so for a long time in the future. Jean Alesi specifically emphasized the fact that the Maranello team must manage the coexistence between Leclerc and Hamilton in the right way: “Charles and Lewis can help the team in different ways, in the development of the car and in the growth of the group. It is a couple that can work, but internal balance and clarity in the roles are needed, without creating confusion. One driver should not prevail over the other”, said Alesi when reached by La Stampa. In some ways Leclerc is a new Alesi out of love for a Ferrari that is rarely on par with its rival cars, but according to Alesi sooner or later Leclerc will realize his dream of winning the title with Ferrari: “I am convinced of it. Sooner or later Ferrari will return to win the Drivers’ title and when it happens, Charles will have to be ready because he can do it. The renewal is a declaration of intent: he and Ferrari are one, they believe in the same project. A driver who has put his love into his team in front of everyone. Honestly, I’ve never seen him wearing another team’s suit.”
