Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles is adding new technology across both the Tiguan medium SUV and Tayron large SUV line-up, among several other detail changes for model year 2026 (MY26) on those and other model lines.
Turning Assistant 2.0 is now standard on the Tiguan and Tayron, enhancing oncoming vehicle braking capability by having the ability to detect oncoming traffic driving straight, and which the driver is about to turn across (as before) – and, now, also oncoming traffic that is about to turn towards the driver.
New aero covers are also standard for the 20” ‘Leeds’ alloy wheels on the Tiguan 195TSI R-Line, to harmonise the look of the wheels to that of both the Golf R-Line and Touareg R-Line.
At the same time, to further enhance the ride comfort of MY26 Tiguan 110TSI Life and 110TSI Elegance grades, these downsize from the previously standard 19” wheels to 17” ‘Venezia’ and 18” ‘Napoli’ alloy wheels respectively.
All MY26 Tiguan Elegance and R-Line grades join together by including illuminating VW emblems front and rear for the first time.
The instantly iconic and wildly popular T-Roc R will conclude production for MY26, however it is anticipated that stock of the hottest 4MOTION-equipped compact SUV will be available into the first months of next year.
Volkswagen’s new model renaissance continues in 2026 with the addition of the Tiguan eHybrid and Tayron eHybrid, both plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). With over 100km of WLTP range on a single charge, Volkswagen will offer customers the widest powertrain choice in the most popular segments.
By the middle of next year, the Tiguan and Tayron will sport everything from 110TSI turbocharged entry value in five and seven-seat configuration, punchy luxurious and sporty 2.0-litre turbo all-wheel drive Elegance and R-Line (Tiguan only) grades – plus the sportiest 195kW/400Nm 195TSI R-Line range topper.
Petrol turbo and PHEV powertrains will continue to be placed alongside the fully electric ID. 4 and ID. 5 medium SUVs – all in the most popular $45-75,000 price bracket.
