MGU9 EV set to go on sale in Australia from October 29

AU
The all-new MGU9 EV will officially go on sale from 29 October 2026, bringing a new all-electric option to Australia’s ute market.
Priced at $78,990 plus on-road costs, the MGU9 EV is designed to give Australians the benefits of electric driving without compromising on the versatility they expect from a ute.
As fuel prices continue to put pressure on household budgets, electric vehicles are becoming an increasingly compelling option for Australian drivers. For ute owners, however, making the switch means finding a vehicle that delivers the capability they need alongside the potential for lower running costs.

Dimitri Andreatidis, Marketing Director at MG Motor Australia, said the strong initial interest in the MGU9 EV reflected growing appetite for an electric ute that meets the needs of Australian drivers.
“Electric vehicles have arrived in Australia, and with fuel prices putting pressure on household budgets, more families are looking at the benefits of electric driving. “But lower running costs alone aren’t enough. People need a vehicle that can handle everyday life and still be ready for a weekend away.
“Ute buyers have never been against electric. They’ve just been against compromise. The initial response to the MGU9 EV has been really encouraging, and we believe that’s because it brings the capability and versatility people expect from a ute, with the benefits of an all-electric powertrain.
“The MGU9 EV gives customers another option to consider, combining the capability they need with lower running costs.”
The MGU9 EV offers a WLTP driving range of up to 430km and a 3,500kg braked towing capacity. Its spacious tub and 236-litre front boot provide practical storage, while vehicle-to-load capability allows owners to power compatible equipment away from mains electricity.
Customers will also be able to purchase optional accessories from Thule, allowing them to tailor their MGU9 EV to suit their interests. The range includes roof boxes and cargo bags for additional storage, bike carriers for cycling trips and kayak carriers for days on the water. Roof racks, a rooftop tent and an awning will also be available for customers planning camping trips and longer outdoor adventures.
Thule is a global leader in products for active lifestyles and outdoor transport, with accessories designed to make it easier for people to bring their gear along wherever they go.
Diego Steininger, Channel Manager at Thule Outdoor Australia, said the accessories give customers more flexibility to make the most of their vehicle.
“The best outdoor experiences start with having the right gear and an easy way to bring it along. Our range offers practical solutions for carrying equipment, making it easier for customers to spend more time doing what they love outdoors.”
Australia will be the first market globally to launch the all-electric MGU9 EV, with the vehicle arriving at MG dealerships nationwide from 29 October 2026, priced at $78,990 plus on-road costs.
