F1 Australia Qualifying, an excellent Racing Bulls
Definitely a positive day for Racing Bulls. In qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix the Faenza team brought both cars into Q3, finishing in eighth and ninth position on the grid. A result that confirms not only the good potential of the VCARB 03, equipped with a Red Bull Ford engine that surprised with its speed and reliability, but also the validity of the very young couple made up of Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad.
Arriving in Melbourne with a clear understanding of the car’s operating window and with some aerodynamic updates, the team found a good balance straight away. After a relatively easy Q1, the passage of the round was decided above all in Q2, where both drivers raised the bar, ousting the Haas teams that seemed to be favored in the role of fifth force.
Lawson’s words
“We didn’t think we would be double Q3, honestly, so I’m quite happy“, commented Lawson. “We had a pretty fast car and we also saved a new set for tomorrow“Racing Bulls in fact took part in Q3 with used soft tyres, knowing full well that they could not compete on an equal footing with the best four teams.
Lindblad’s words
“It was really nice. I think we were pretty competitive all weekend. I tried not to get too emotional after yesterday (this is the comment from Lindblad, who was in the top-5 in FP1, ed.) because we didn’t know if things would change or if the others had something in their pockets. But I knew at the start of the session that we would be fast, I just had to focus on myself and do my job. The team did a phenomenal jobit’s really impressive to have two cars in Q3, especially considering where we were in Bahrain, I think it’s a lot more than the team and I expected. So I’m extremely happy and can’t wait for tomorrow“.
