Denmark presents plans for an F1 Grand Prix

Denmark arrives. This season the first Grand Prix in history will take place on the Madrid street circuit, but there has been no shortage of other innovations in Formula 1: in 2027, for example, the Turkish Grand Prix will return to the calendar, without forgetting all the other ongoing projects for further returns of the Circus in nations such as Argentina, India, South Korea or South Africa, with the latter which would coincide with the end of an absence of F1 from the African continent which has lasted since 1994. Denmark’s plan has recently been added to all these countries, which already present a roadmap. The project Investors Henrik Lyngbye Pedersen and his son Mathias Lyngbye Villadsen have in fact unveiled a 510 million euro project aimed at modifying and expanding the current Padborg track, which with a length of 6 km and a capacity of 100,000 would become not only the largest circuit in Denmark, but also in Northern Europe. Designed by studio Wurz Design (owned by former Austrian racer Alexander Wurz) and renamed ‘Circuit of Denmark’, this will also include facilities for motocross, karting, hotels and conference space, with the Danish investors currently seeking further international investors. Located in the southernmost area of ​​the country, according to Jens Hansen, F1 commentator for Viaplay and TV3 Sport, it can be a “good choice” also due to its proximity to two other nations such as Germany and the Netherlands. While there has been no official confirmation from Formula 1 that a GP will be held, project director Rebecca Palmberg Steele confirmed that the facility has been designed to meet stringent Grade 1 standards.
