The first in Madrid After Charles Leclerc’s triumph at Silverstone, also accompanied by Lewis Hamilton’s third place, Ferrari scored another victory. This time it is not a success achieved on the track, but a strategic move which however could bring an important advantage in the near future: as revealed by Roberto Chinchero on the Motorsport.com website, in fact, the Cavallino team has obtained the green light to hold a filming day session on the brand new Madring circuit, the Madrid track which from this year will be the new ‘home’ of the Spanish GP and which will host its first Grand Prix on 13 September. Tomorrow Hamilton and Leclerc on the track The filming day will take place tomorrow, 8 July, and will include, as per the regulations, a maximum of 200 km traveled by the SF-26. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will alternate at the wheel of the red single-seater: logically, both Maranello’s regular drivers will be involved in this ‘test’ which will undoubtedly guarantee Ferrari an advantage over all the competition. In fact, the red cars will be the first Formula 1 cars in history to run on this new track, thus being able to acquire the first useful data to be exploited in mid-September when the Circus will make its official debut on this track. A test for the circuit too. The Madring facility, with the grandstands and all the structures surrounding the circuit, is still in the midst of construction work to be ready to host the Spanish Grand Prix but the track, a semi-permanent layout made up of 22 corners, is ready and Ferrari was the first to ‘book’ to put its wheels on it. The filming day is obviously also useful for the track managers themselves, who will thus be able to concretely verify that the entire facility is actually ‘made to measure’ for Formula 1 just two months before the race weekend.
