Ferrari, still room for Beganovic Dino Beganovic will once again be at the wheel of his #36 Ferrari in FP1 of the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, following up on his recent presence in Barcelona.
If Lewis Hamilton had taken over in Catalonia, Charles Leclerc will instead make room for him in Styria – who will therefore observe the first free practices of the weekend from the garage. Beganovic performed reasonably well at Montmelò, finishing the session 8th, 1.4 seconds behind leader George Russell and less than a second behind Leclerc, completing 30 laps in total.
The Swede then got back behind the wheel of his F2 DAMS, taking seventh place in the Sprint and sixth place in the Feature Race. For Beganovic it will be the fourth appearance in a Formula 1 race weekend, after the FP1s in Bahrain and Austria 2025 and Barcelona 2026, always at the wheel of one of the two Ferraris.
We remind you that by regulation each team is obliged to field a driver with less than two races under his belt in Formula 1 in 4 FP1s. Leclerc on the bench Charles Leclerc will therefore have to bite the brakes in the pits, as he wants to forget the recent races in Monte Carlo and Barcelona – both of which ended with a retirement.
Leclerc’s track record in Austria is however positive, given that he won in GP3 in 2016, in F2 in 2017 and in F1 in 2022, achieving a total of five podiums in nine appearances in the premier category.
