The words of the Ferrari CEO
Ferrari started the 2026 World Championship as the second force on the track, closer to Mercedes than McLaren and Red Bull ‘followed’ (they didn’t) the SF-26s.
Charles Leclerc thrilled with an aggressive start to the race in which he took and defended the lead for a long time from George Russell’s attacks, then also due to a conservative strategic choice he could do nothing but settle for third final position.
Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna commented on the start of the 2026 F1 World Championship as follows: “At the beginning the GP was certainly very interesting, very nice, very exciting, engaging – Vigna’s words to the microphones of Sky Sports – we are certainly not satisfied with third and fourth place, in the sense that we are aiming for other positions, but it is a good start, we can continue to learn, there is a lot of data, I’m happy for the whole team, I’m happy for Vasseur, for the drivers, for all the engineers and mechanics both here and in Maranello. In my opinion it’s a good start, we continue to collect data and understand. I’m happy for all the members of the team because they deserve it, they worked a lot, now with our feet on the ground we will continue to learn and understand with the data we have collected.”
