So much bad luck for George. The retirement in this Canadian GP left its mark on George Russell, and it couldn’t be otherwise. The Englishman, stopped by a fault in his W17, had already appeared furious at the moment of the forced stop but even in front of the TV cameras he barely managed to contain his disappointment. Russell, understandably from his point of view, has blamed bad luck for a start to the season that could see him fall 43 points behind teammate Kimi Antonelli this evening. “I don’t feel like I’m right at the moment – Russell told Sky Sport – it would have been better [questo problema] it had happened to me in Miami when I was sixth, not here in Montreal when I was leading. Even in Japan, the introduction of the Safety Car could have happened a lap earlier, or the failure in qualifying in China. Even the red flag in Q1 in Melbourne, without the red flag Kimi would have started last. There’s something not right for me at the moment. I don’t want to wish bad luck on anyone else, I just want to fight and be able to play my cards fairly, have the same opportunities. At the moment, luck isn’t really on my side.”
