Audi’s press release
“Due to personal reasons, Jonathan Wheatley will leave the team effective immediately. The team thanks Jonathan for his contribution to the project and wishes him the best in his future projects. Mattia Binotto, head of the Audi F1 project, will continue to lead the team, taking on additional responsibilities as Team Principal. Since taking over at the helm of the project in 2024, Mattia has led the team’s transformation as Audi prepared and ultimately entered F1 as a chassis and powertrain manufacturer.
The future structure of the team will be definitively defined at a later stage, as the organization continues to adapt to the ever-changing context of Formula 1. With the unconditional commitment of AUDI AG, the Audi Revolut F1 Team will continue to progress towards the goal of competing for the title by 2030.”
Wheatley headed for Aston Martin
As reported yesterday, it now appears evident as the voices of a Jonathan Wheatley heading to Aston Martin are decidedly concrete. The English manager is in fact the man chosen by Lawrence Stroll and Adrian Newey for the future role of team principal. The timing of his arrival remains to be defined, always subject to the usual grading leave.
