Red Bull, Lambiase’s farewell is reality This morning’s rumors about Gianpiero Lambiase’s departure from Red Bull were soon confirmed. Max Verstappen’s competition manager and track engineer will leave the Milton Keynes team in 2028, upon expiry of his current contract, to go to McLaren, where he will hold the role of Chief Racing Officer and report directly to team principal Andrea Stella. The press release “Red Bull Racing confirms that Gianpiero Lambiase will leave the team in 2028, upon expiry of his current contract. “GP” is a valuable member of the Team, of which he has been part since 2015″, reads the note from Red Bull. “Until his departure in 2028, ‘GP’ will continue to fill the roles of competition manager and race engineer to Max Verstappen. The team and he are fully committed to adding further successes to our already solid palmares.” The future at McLaren McLaren convinced Lambiase with a very important offer and a role of great responsibility: he will practically be Stella’s right-hand man. Here is the statement from the papayas: “McLaren is pleased to announce that Gianpiero Lambiase will join the team as Chief Racing Officer, reporting to team principal Andrea Stella. The Chief Racing Officer role already exists within the team structure and provides overall leadership of the team. These duties are currently managed by Stella, in addition to his role as team principal. Lambiase is the latest acquisition aimed at strengthening and supporting the existing talent pool at McLaren, while reaffirming the team’s long-term commitment to cementing its position as a championship-winning team. The team’s ability to attract and secure top talent, such as Lambiase and, previously, Rob Marshall and Will Courtenay, as well as retaining and promoting highly talented people already within the team, is a testament to the strategic vision and culture that is integral to McLaren under the leadership of Zak Brown and Andrea Stella, both of whom are tied to long-term contracts Gianpiero Lambiase upon expiry of his current contract, no later than 2028.”
