Roasted hopes
The dream of a second career podium in F1 in his first race as a Red Bull driver lasted just a day Isack Hadjar. After the splendid third position in qualifying achieved yesterday, today the Frenchman had to raise the white flag after 12 lapsforced to surrender by failure of the power unit on his RB22. A bitter start to the World Championship for #6, who however had already lost two positions at the start despite an extremely good first start from the grid.
Immediate problems
After the end of the race, interviewed by Sky Sports F1the second driver of the Milton Keynes team commented with understandable bitterness on his Sunday, while appearing optimistic about Red Bull’s ability to grow: “Today was a frustrating day – Hadjar declared – I was confident that we could fight for the podiumso this result is a shame. I felt really strong at the start, but unfortunately the problem we had showed up straight away.”.
“The reliability we had throughout the weekend was good – added the pilot from beyond the Alps – but obviously the race is another thing and I realized pretty quickly that there was a problem. The car was making a strange noise and I knew we wouldn’t make it to the end. It’s frustrating, but these things can happen and we’re still at the beginning of our journey. Now we will go to China immediately, but I am confident that we will learn from this experience“.
