FOTON has returned to the Australian passenger vehicle market with the launch of its all-new TUNLAND ute range, targeting the mid-size segment between traditional dual-cab utes and larger full-size pickups.
The range comprises two models – the V7 and V9 – both powered by a 2.0-litre Aucan turbo-diesel engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and ZF 8-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain produces 120kW of power and 450Nm of torque, with towing capacity up to 3500kg and payload capacity reaching 1115kg depending on variant.
Pricing starts at $39,990 for the entry-level V7-C 4×2 model, positioning the TUNLAND as a value proposition in the competitive Australian ute market.
The V7-C is available in both 4×2 and 4×4 configurations, targeting commercial and fleet buyers with over 1000kg payload capacity and work-focused features. The V9-L and V9-S variants, both offered in 4×4 only, feature multi-link rear suspension and enhanced comfort features aimed at lifestyle buyers seeking versatility for work and recreational use.
Design differences distinguish the two model types, with the V7 featuring a squared-off grille with horizontal bars for a utilitarian appearance, while the V9 adopts a broader hexagonal grille with refined detailing to emphasise its premium positioning.
All variants feature a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.6-inch infotainment screen, along with comprehensive advanced driver assistance systems including autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, and blind spot monitoring.
“The all-new TUNLAND is the goldilocks of utes – not too big, not too small, but just right for Australian drivers,” FOTON Australia general manager Glen Cooper says.
“It blends the durability of FOTON’s global truck-building heritage with the refinement, space, and technology today’s customers expect.”
The TUNLAND range is backed by a seven-year unlimited kilometre warranty and seven years of roadside assistance, with service intervals set at 15,000 kilometres or 12 months. FOTON Australia, part of the Inchcape Australasia group, was appointed as the Australian distributor in 2024.
The vehicles are available through a growing national dealer network, with customers able to locate their nearest retailer through the company’s website.
