Double Italian pride
The victory achieved in the Chinese GP, the first in his career and the first by an Italian in Formula 1 for exactly 20 years, put Andrea Kimi Antonelli at the center of the world. Even his friend Jannik Sinner – who incidentally is one of the two strongest tennis players in the world at the moment – did not miss the opportunity to celebrate it on worldwide television just after winning the Indian Wells Master 1000 for the first time in his career.
During the celebratory speech he held when the trophy dedicated to the winner was handed over, Sinner wanted to publicly mention the feat achieved in Shanghai by the very young Mercedes driver from Bologna: “For Italy this was a special day – declared the champion from San Candido – I’m a huge Formula 1 fan and having such a young Italian like Kimi bring Italy back to the top is fantastic. So thank you Kimi and thank you Formula 1“.
Shortly before, on the camera where usually those who win a tennis tournament of this level leave a written dedication, Sinner had already celebrated Antonelli’s result with a simple but effective “Great Kimi!!“And Italy enjoys its champions.
