GP Qatar has not moved since November 29. The war in Iran also had natural consequences in the sports world; F1 and MotoGP have had to rethink their calendars. There were no conditions for racing in the Middle East in the spring, and even with summer on the doorstep, there has yet to be a positive development that would first calm tensions in the region and then allow us to consider organizing a GP. F1 continues to monitor and evaluate the possibility of rescheduling one of the Middle East GPs that are not held in April (Bahrain and Saudi Arabia), knowing that it is impossible to reschedule them. Even a simple reintroduction of a phase will be difficult for logistical reasons: the complexity of the schedule makes any change particularly sensitive from an organizational perspective, even if the situation should return to stability in the coming months. There are many risks, and the President of the Qatar Motorcycle and Automobile Federation, Abdulrahman Al-Mannai, announced that the date of November 29 will not be changed to make room for possible improvements, underlining that the Qatar GP is closely linked to the next final round in Abu Dhabi: “No, the date will not be changed. I do not think there will be changes, because we are practically just one step away from Abu Dhabi, which is the last round”, these are his words to The Athletic. “I think it’s really hard to change any history right now.” Solutions being studied include placing the potential salvage race between the Azerbaijan GP and Singapore GP (Sunday 4 October), which would avoid calendar complexity at the end of the season but would require a significant logistical effort from teams, organizers and suppliers. But these are only hypotheses that can be valid if rapid geopolitical developments occur in the Middle East, and it is clear that F1 has a deadline in mind to decide on (possibly before the summer break) and B has plans to detail the calendar.
