Bentley unveils its new fully electric SUV, the Torcal

Bentley has unveiled the Torcal, its new fully electric SUV.

Featuring a long wheelbase and short overhangs, the model has an imposing front design. Maintaining stylistic continuity with other Bentley models, the Torcal reinterprets this design language through an illuminated diamond-pattern grille. At the rear, clean and minimalist lines take center stage. The entry-level version is equipped with 21-inch wheels, while the S version features 22-inch wheels with ten twin-spoke designs.

The cabin features a dashboard inspired by Bentley’s wings and is finished with materials such as leather, wood and aluminum. The design of the ventilated and heated seats has also been revised. The seats offer 16-way adjustment, adjustable side bolsters and a new massage function. As optional features, Bentley’s “Postural Adjust” and “Smart Seat Climate” systems can further enhance comfort on long journeys by continuously adjusting the shape of the seat and managing heating and ventilation.

With the “Wellness Seat” function, the massage system extends from the backrest to the seat cushion, allowing the legs to be massaged as well.

In addition, thanks to its collaboration with Naim, the Torcal offers a 1,780-watt audio system featuring 28 speakers, kinetic actuators in the seats and speakers integrated into the front headrests. The three-seat rear bench is equipped with an electric folding system for the first time in a Bentley model. The luggage compartment offers 460 liters of capacity, complemented by an additional 90-liter front trunk, or frunk.

Beneath its innovative design, the Torcal houses two permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors powered by an 800-volt battery with a capacity of 113 kWh. The battery provides a range of up to 600 kilometers. The vehicle can accept DC charging at up to 400 kW, allowing the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes. In the most powerful version, the S, output reaches 888 hp, while torque stands at 1,350 Nm. This is the highest torque figure ever achieved by a Bentley model. These performance figures enable the Crewe-built SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.

To manage the power delivered to the wheels, the vehicle is equipped with an active suspension system, a first for Bentley, along with two-valve adaptive dampers. A silicon-carbide ceramic braking system is also available, featuring 440 mm front discs and 410 mm rear discs.

The distinctive “Bentley Dynamic Symphony” sound system is calibrated according to the torque requested by the driver and the vehicle’s speed. The aim is to emphasize the connection between driver and vehicle while driving.
