Third row for the Ferraris Lewis Hamilton was a great protagonist in the Sprint Qualifying of the Canadian GP. In SQ3, however, as always the Mercedes-powered cars pushed harder, causing the Ferraris to slip into the third row. The English driver could have aspired to the second row or even compete with Andrea Kimi Antonelli. Hamilton made a mistake in the final part of the lap as highlighted by our telemetry analysis. Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur is nevertheless satisfied with Friday in Montreal. “Our two drivers were quite competitive in the Sprint Qualifying – the words of Frederic Vasseur – here the gaps between the teams are very small and today a few thousandths made the difference of a couple of positions. In the Sprint race we will try to score some points and, at the same time, make the most of the 23 laps to learn even more and use this information in the best possible way on Sunday in the Grand Prix”.
