24h Nurburgring: Max Verstappen is there in the 2026 edition It is the highlight event of the whole weekend, at least if we talk about the four-wheel categories, and who knows, maybe even of Max Verstappen’s entire racing season. In fact, the engines are being warmed up at the Green Hell for the 24 Hours of the Nurburgring 2026 which, as usual, will be held on the legendary Nordschleife track which winds through over 20 km of thrilling ups and downs, banked hairpin bends, blind corners and with a very high level of difficulty. A decidedly long weekend, because starting on Thursday the engines start up on the track for the first qualifying sessions useful for establishing the starting grid of the cars from 50th to last place (161st). The qualifying sessions: the format Specifically, we will start with the first two hours of Q1, scheduled from 1.15pm to 3.15pm, and which for the main crews of the GT3 class (in reality the main category is called SP9 according to the regulations of the NLS championship and the ADAC) including that of Verstappen will be used as a simple free practice session. The preparatory show for the 24-hour race between Saturday and Sunday then continues at night, with Q2 scheduled between 8pm and 11.30pm on Thursday: this too is a free practice session for the main crews, who however are obliged to participate under penalty of exclusion from the race. The 49 main crews, however, only start to get serious on Friday: from 10.15 to 10.45 the Top Qualifying 1 (TQ1), in which Max Verstappen is obliged to participate having not obtained automatic promotion to the final phase (based on the results in the previous races). From 11.05 to 11.35 there is then space for TQ2, with other eliminations in view of the final session in which the battle will be for pole position: TQ3 is in fact scheduled from 1.35 to 2.35 on Friday, after the hour of Q3 in which the definitive starting grid will also be defined for the cars in the lower categories (from 50th place onwards). 24 Hours in Hell However, these are definitely important sessions for the final result because, if it is true that in a 24 Hours the starting position is never really decisive, it is equally true that on a circuit like the Nurburgring Nordschleife it can be decisive to find yourself pushing on a relatively clear track rather than fighting in traffic among much slower cars. The most important day, however, is obviously Saturday, with an hour of warm-up scheduled from 10.00 to 11.00 in the morning, in view of the starting procedure, which will start at 2.40 pm with an entire formation lap of the Green Hell. At 3.00 pm the green flag will start the race, which will end exactly 24 hours later, at 3.00 pm on Sunday.
