Max protagonist in any case For better or for worse Max Verstappen always manages to be the protagonist. In Miami he more than anyone animated the race, with great overtaking but also with a mistake made in the phases immediately following the start which inevitably affected his entire race. In fact, the Red Bull superstar turned into the ‘S’ between turns 2 and 3, ending up spinning in the middle of the group and managing – with a maneuver worthy of his talent – to avoid both the wall and the other cars. A miracle which, however, does not erase the previous mistake and which forced Verstappen himself and the Red Bull wall to play a strategic joker: a very early pit stop during the seventh lap taking advantage of the entry of the Safety Car. The plan worked and the #3 even found himself leading the race at one point, thanks also to his speed in overtaking the other cars ahead of him after the stop. But then tire wear took its toll and Verstappen crossed the finish line in fifth place, also benefiting from the problems Leclerc had during the last lap. Admission of guilt “The spin at the start? I simply lost the rear at Turn 2 – Verstappen honestly admitted to the microphones of French TV Canal+, acknowledging his mistake – at that point I tried to stay away from the wall and complete my 360°. This mistake complicated things, but from that moment on I managed to recover. Then we decided to switch to hard tires quite early. We knew it would be a very long race to get to the end and in the last laps we simply had to finish ran out of tyres. Duels with many riders? I tried to do my best, unfortunately it was too difficult to keep up with them”, concluded Verstappen.
