Second row for the Ferrari “Horrendo“. Charles Leclerc did not mince words to comment on his only lap in SQ3 which earned the Ferrari driver the fourth fastest time overall which means starting from the second row in tomorrow’s Sprint. Leclerc made a braking error at the end of the long straight that leads to the twistiest section of the track. The Ferrari driver was probably aware that he was paying more than his opponents on the straight and tried to recover by going long. Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur commented on the Miami Sprint Qualifying as follows to Sky: “Leclerc can’t be happy, if you’re first in SQ1 and SQ2 and then fourth in SQ3 you can’t be happy and neither am I on the wall because evidently we didn’t make good use of the package, even if the positive note is that the potential is there. The gap in the straight? We lose a couple of tenths, but even in this case it’s more correct to talk about package and not only in the race, however, this gap is narrowing and we will be able to catch up.” Vasseur expects to still be able to take advantage of the Ferraris’ slingshot starts: “I don’t want to reveal anything, but right from the start we are not the best at starting this season and I believe that everyone will improve because there is always a sort of convergence in performance, but we are more consistent in the start than the others, this is important, so I am confident that the drivers will start well tomorrow too, but we must not focus everything just on the start.”
