Carlos Sainz is in a hurry to get back in the car, who evidently can’t stand any more of this long spring stop imposed on F1 by the cancellations of the races originally scheduled in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia in April. The Spaniard, like the entire Williams team, is eager to straighten out a difficult start to the season for the historic English team and – while waiting to see if the updates that the team led by James Vowles will bring to Miami will work – he wants to make sure he hasn’t lost his luster and physical form when the time comes to get serious again. So, since he was already in England working on the simulator, Sainz put pressure on Williams to organize a TPC test at Silverstone with last year’s car, the FW47, with which the former Ferrari driver had achieved two podiums. Normally, tests with old cars require that the cars used date back at least two seasons earlier, but since there was the regulatory revolution that everyone knows about this year, teams are also allowed to use 2025 single-seaters. Sainz was thus able to take advantage of a sunny day to regain confidence with an F1 cockpit just under a month after the last race held in Suzuka which ended for the Spanish driver with the 15th final position, more than a minute behind the winner Antonelli. The hope is that in Miami the ‘enhanced’ version of the FW48 will allow him to be at least closer to the points zone.
