The Motor Trade Association of Western Australia (MTA WA) has appointed Robyn Cook as president for 2025-26, with the Peel Tyre Service owner and managing director bringing more than 28 years of automotive industry experience to the role.

Cook succeeds Jodi Kerr from Shacks Motor Group, who led the association through 2024-25 with a focus on member engagement across Western Australia’s automotive sector.

The multi-award-winning business owner and community advocate says her presidency will prioritise training, workforce development, and regional representation during a period of industry transformation.

“It’s a privilege to lead the MTA WA at a time of such transformation and opportunity,” Cook says. “Our strength lies in our members — from small independent workshops to large dealership groups — and our focus is on ensuring they have the skills, advocacy, and support to succeed in a changing environment.”

Joe Giura from Westrans Services WA continues as vice president, while Moira D’Cruze from Wembley Autocare remains treasurer, providing continuity of governance and experience on the board.

New directors join experienced team

Two new directors have joined the board for the first time, with Mark Taylor from Automark and Jesse Doherty from Euro Technik bringing fresh perspectives from the independent repair and European vehicle service sectors.

They join continuing directors Jodi Kerr, Pat Browne from Pebco Automotive Services, Peter Coupland from Bowra Smash Repairs, Garry Spouge from Modern Motor Trimmers, and Andrew Houghton from Arns & Associates.

MTA WA interim group chief executive officer Rhona Varkevisser says the new board combines proven experience with emerging leadership, reflecting the diversity and strength of Western Australia’s automotive industry.

“This is a Board that truly represents the breadth of our membership — from family-owned workshops and service providers to major transport and repair operations and dealerships,” Varkevisser says. “Their combined expertise will ensure the MTA WA continues to lead on workforce development, training excellence, and business sustainability.”

The board was confirmed at the association’s annual general meeting, held on 14 October 2025 at the Royal Perth Yacht Club, where members gathered to reflect on the MTA WA’s performance for the 2024-25 financial year.

Established in 1934, the MTA WA represents more than 1500 member businesses across mechanical repair, retail, body repair, heavy vehicle, training, and mobility services throughout Western Australia’s automotive industry.
