Ferrari is not the only one to have taken to the track on Wednesday 22 April, ten days before the long-awaited return of Formula 1 to the track in Miami. Red Bull also decided to spend one of the two seasonal filming days at Silverstone, where Max Verstappen took the RB22 on track to capture important information on the updates underway in Milton Keynes. The four-time world champion was the only one to complete the 200 km available on the English track, fitting the new components in which the team invested time and resources in the hope of reversing the fate of this troubled start to the season.
Among the affected parts are a new front wing, new side bellies and a different rear wing activation system; the latter, as demonstrated by Ferrari with the “Macarena”, is among the elements with the greatest margin for development and profit. Will you also test the new engine configuration? The choice of Ferrari and Red Bull to compete for the filming days today may not be a coincidence: in fact, both have the opportunity to put into practice the measures and changes regarding the management of the electrical energy of the power unit decided by the FIA, teams and engine engineers in the last meeting on April 20th. Changes which, barring sensational reversals on the day of the official vote, will become operational as early as the next match in Miami.
