The opinion of the former pilot
The debut as an engineer could not fail to reserve pitfalls and youth problems for the Red Bull and the premises were largely respected both positively and negatively. The positive aspect is that the Red Bull power unit started well in terms of performance and the technical knockouts were to be expected. In Australia Isack Hadjar retired, in China the wall asked Verstappen to return to the pits when the Dutchman was in sixth position before slowing down noticeably.
Red Bull’s real problem right now is that the RB22 is not a good car from a chassis, suspension and aerodynamic point of view. Cornering performance is lacking to the point that Red Bull is stuck in a big group with Haas, Alpine, Audi and Racing Bulls.
Furthermore, the new regulation does not put Max Verstappen in a good mood, but Ralf Schumacher stressed that the Dutchman would do well to stop complaining and focus on helping Red Bull get out of this situation. “Verstappen has already proven that he is the fastest of all – said Ralf Schumacher as a commentator for Sky Deutschland – now, however, he must help his team who is going through a difficult moment and stop complaining. Do you want to race in another category? He can do it. These new rules were established four years ago, at the time all the teams wanted electrical energy to grow in relation to thermal energy, we must not forget this. Many teams have invested an incredible amount of money for this regulation.”
