A Norris…made of wax While waiting for McLaren to make him smile permanently again by providing him with a single-seater capable of permanently challenging Mercedes and Ferrari, Lando Norris can console himself with a version of himself that will be smiling in a…permanent way. In fact, the statue portraying him was unveiled at the famous London wax museum Madame Tussauds – strictly in a papaya suit – and Norris himself showed some background information on how his statue came to light via his social media channels. “Seeing the finished statue and standing next to it is truly surreal: it’s like looking at another version of me – declared Norris – I’m used to seeing myself in photos, videos or reflections in the mirror, but this is really me in 3D. The artists have really nailed the details; it’s incredibly realistic.” To complete the look, Norris donated one of his McLaren race suits. “I wanted to do this so that fans can see up close something that I actually wear when I run and to make the statue as realistic as possible,” Norris explained. “I can’t wait for everyone to come and see it in London this summer and I hope they enjoy visiting.” The Norris statue will be visible to the public from June 30 at the Baker Street site, alongside statues of fellow Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton and Bayern Munich and England national football star Harry Kane.
