Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) has confirmed the appointment of Shunichi Kihara as its new chief executive, with the long-serving Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) executive to take up the role on January 5, 2026.
Kihara is currently division general manager for global sales at MMC, where he oversees the company’s global sales development division. He has been with MMC for more than 34 years, joining the organisation in 1991.
“I’m delighted to accept the position of CEO at MMAL and look forward to meeting you when I arrive in Australia,” Kihara says. “Mitsubishi Motors has been a strong and trusted brand in Australia for 45 years, and together we will build on that legacy to drive it into the future.”
MMAL chairperson John Signoriello says Kihara’s experience will support the company’s long-term plans.
“On behalf of the MMAL executive management team, we welcome Mr Kihara’s experience and leadership. We are confident that he will play a critical role in realising our shared vision of long-term success of the Mitsubishi Motors brand in Australia,” Signoriello says.
