MG Motor Australia has issued a safety recall for 10,516 MG3 compact hatchbacks manufactured between March 6, 2024 and July 30, 2025, following the discovery of a driver seat defect that could increase injury risk during frontal impacts.
The recall was triggered after Euro NCAP testing revealed that the driver side seat with six-way manual adjustment slides forward by 111.5mm on the side closest to the centre console during collision. This movement may increase the risk of leg injuries in frontal impact scenarios.
MG Motor has notified the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications about the recall and says it is not aware of any incidents relating to the defect as of the recall date.
The company will contact affected MG3 owners directly and is encouraging customers to arrange visits to their local MG Motor service centre as soon as possible. The fix involves fitting an additional component to the driver’s seat rail, which MG Motor says will ensure optimal performance and safety.
The repair work will be conducted at no charge to customers and is estimated to take between 30 minutes and one hour to complete.
