Hamilton super motivated
The one seen in Melbourne was certainly a Lewis Hamilton different from last year, smiling and determined to get the most out of his Ferrari SF-26. If in qualifying the result was not optimal, with seventh place, in the race with fourth the Englishman showed that he had extracted the maximum from his Red.
His start was really important, given that from the seventh spot on the grid he found himself third right from the start.
Recovery operation
The Ferrari clearly seemed to be the second fastest car and therefore Hamilton’s mind was already turned to the recovery operation: “I believe we can close the gap. It won’t be easy, there’s a lot of work to do because they have a significant advantage especially on the flying lap. We need to find out if it’s the power or the batterybut our car seems as fast as theirs in corners and so we have to keep pushing”he underlined to Sky Sport UK.
Hamilton, in addition to the failure to stop with the first VSC, noted a Dazn Spain who could have done even better at the start: “My start was great, but at the first corner I left too much space on the inside because they were in my blind spot and I went wide and ended up losing two positions. It wasn’t ideal.”. Positions immediately recovered in the following corners.
