No regrets at Ferrari Lewis Hamilton took second place on the first lap of the Austrian GP behind George Russell, but little by little he lost ground, concluding the Red Bull Ring race in fifth position. The Ferrari driver lost second place in the Drivers’ Championship to George Russell, now second -40 points behind Andrea Kimi Antonelli. The seven-time world champion confirmed himself as the best Ferrari driver in the race and not by a long shot. The Scuderia di Maranello wall also played the soft tire card with Hamilton taking advantage of a favorable moment in conjunction with the Virtual Safety Car triggered by Carlos Sainz’s stop on the track. “Before the race we thought that, given the asphalt temperatures, a three-stop strategy could be an option – explained Hamilton – it’s always difficult to know how things would have gone with a different choice, but I don’t think there was much more we could have achieved today, considering our level of competitiveness. The team did an excellent job at the pit stops.”
