No extra stimulus Max Verstappen delighted many motorsport fans last weekend with his spectacular participation in the 24 hours of the Nurburgring, which however ended bitterly with a technical problem after the four-time Formula 1 champion had dragged – together with his crewmates – the Mercedes #3 one step away from an extraordinary success on the legendary German track. Verstappen’s exploits have reopened the debate on the ‘ancient’ charm of seeing F1 drivers competing in other categories. However, the one who does not seem particularly affected by this challenge is Max’s historic rival in the Circus: Lewis Hamilton. The Ferrari driver was the protagonist of the press conference in Canada, on the Montreal circuit which is like a second home for him. The first question he was asked concerned Verstappen’s commitment but, contrary to what Andrea Kimi Antonelli declared a few days ago, Hamilton does not seem to have the Ring challenge among his future plans. “Does Max’s participation whet my appetite? Well no, not particularly – Hamilton admitted honestly – there is certainly a part of me that, given that I love the Nordschleife, I would like to drive there at some point in my career. But I don’t know. It could be done, who knows. It’s not necessary but it could be done.” Not exactly a declaration of intent…
