Domenicali, message to F1 drivers Having archived the first three races of the season, F1 took advantage of the spring break to draw up an initial assessment of the new regulatory cycle. As in all new things, there is something to save and other aspects on which there is a need to intervene: safety and qualifications are the themes at the center of the meetings between the various actors of the Circus. It is not in the interests of the FIA and F1 to “go ahead” without listening to two of the greatest architects of the success of this discipline: fans and drivers. It is no coincidence that the latter participated in an online meeting with the Federation and the FOM to discuss how to improve the new regulations. The president of F1 Stefano Domenicali considered it very positive and open, while underlining that the criticism sometimes derives from partisan interests. Domenicali’s words “My talks with the drivers are very open, they know that I care a lot about their opinions. I want them to be involved”, these are his words in an interview with Autosport. “Obviously, sometimes you adopt a strategy. If you talk to the riders at the top, they are always very happy, and they are happy because they win. The others can get frustrated, also because they like a different way of racing, which I respect a lot.” The former Ferrari team principal also sent an important message to the drivers. Which, between the lines, was intended above all for Max Verstappen, who has expressed several times his desire to move to other categories and leave an F1 which in his opinion does not reward the driver: “I told them ‘Guys, don’t forget that we are here because we have done the right things together. So be respectful of a sport that has given all of us an incredible opportunity to grow, to earn a lot of money and to develop a personality in the world that other sports that perhaps you love more cannot give you’. I think this message is been understood.”
