The crisis continues If anyone expected that the forced F1 stop of over a month could help the Aston Martin Honda team to at least partially close the enormous gap that separates the Silverstone team from the rest of the starting grid, they are destined to be disappointed. The English team showed up in Miami without any declared update on the AMR26 and for the first half hour of the extra-large FP1 session (90 minutes instead of the traditional 60) the single-seaters of Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso did not take to the track. The reason, as reported by Aston Martin itself, was a “power issue (the term used) inside the garage”. After about 30 minutes of waiting, first Alonso and then Stroll completed their first flying lap, which was more than four and a half seconds slower than the best performance of that moment, achieved by Kimi Antonelli. The first American weekend of the season therefore promises to be extremely difficult for the team directed by Adrian Newey.
