The Colombian would not move The F1 driver market is not holding any big surprises even in 2026 after essentially everyone remained ‘still’ in 2025 waiting to find out what would happen with the start of this new regulation. Charles Leclerc has renewed with Ferrari and George Russell will also remain at Mercedes. The most attractive seats are essentially all already occupied and there is a potential ‘take-4’ in what would become an infinite relationship between Fernando Alonso and Alpine (i.e. the Renault with which he won the two F1 titles in 2005 and 2006). Juan Pablo Montoya wouldn’t move if he were in Alonso because on balance if he had to bet on which team to aim for to win again Aston Martin on paper has much more potential. “If I had to bet on the victory of one of the two teams, I would bet on Aston Martin, it has a greater probability of success than Alpine – said Montoya reached by the BetVictor website – Alpine has done an extraordinary job this year. But Adrian Newey will make the difference, with him in the team you can win everything. It wouldn’t surprise me if at the end of the year Aston could beat Alpine. But the difficult thing for Fernando is that he will probably have to make a decision before then”.
