Stellantis opens the door to a new era in artificial intelligence-supported autonomous driving technologies. The company aims to offer drivers a more natural, safe and intuitive hands-free driving experience with the new generation driving system it will develop within the scope of its strategic cooperation with Wayve.
Stellantis, one of the world’s leading mobility companies, is accelerating its investments in autonomous driving technologies. The company announced that it will integrate Wayve AI Driver technology into the STLA AutoDrive platform, within the scope of its strategic partnership with Wayve, which develops artificial intelligence-based driving technologies.
Thanks to this integration, it is planned to offer a hands-free, supervised Level 2++ autonomous driving experience in urban and highway driving. The collaboration is considered one of the important steps of Stellantis’ vision of artificial intelligence-focused transformation in advanced driving support systems.
First Target Level 2++ Autonomous Driving
The first phase of the partnership will focus on door-to-door supervised autonomous driving solutions covering urban and highway use. Wayve’s end-to-end artificial intelligence technology will be combined with Stellantis’ STLA AutoDrive platform and global engineering infrastructure.
The new system is aimed to provide an improved driving experience in which the driver maintains constant control but can perform many driving tasks automatically. At the same time, the infrastructure is being developed to support the transition to higher levels of autonomous driving features in the future.
First Application in North America in 2028
The first vehicle integration of the system developed by Stellantis and Wayve is planned to be put into operation in the North American market in 2028.
The companies also emphasized that they have achieved significant speed in their integration efforts. According to the information disclosed, engineering teams integrated Wayve AI Driver technology into Stellantis vehicle platforms in less than two months and created a working prototype.
Artificial Intelligence Supported Mobility Strategy
The STLA AutoDrive platform offers a common and scalable driving technology infrastructure that can be used across different brands of Stellantis. Wayve’s artificial intelligence-based approach is being developed to adapt to different vehicle segments and geographical conditions.
Thanks to this structure, the system will be used in more than one market and in different Stellantis brands in the future. The collaboration also stands out as an important step that will enable autonomous driving technologies to reach wider audiences.
A New Era in Autonomous Driving
The strategic partnership established by Stellantis with Wayve is among the developments that will accelerate the commercialization process of artificial intelligence-supported driving technologies in the automotive industry. With this collaboration, the company aims to increase driving safety, improve user experience and strengthen its infrastructure for autonomous mobility solutions of the future.
