Antonelli and Norris in the car It was the current championship leader Kimi Antonelli and the reigning champion Lando Norris who completed the development test organized by Pirelli at the Nürburgring, with the support of Mercedes and McLaren. The average temperature of the asphalt was 26°C while the air temperature was around 14°C. In the first phase of the program, the two drivers continued the work started by their respective teammates on the structural variants of the C3 compound, completing several runs of eight laps each. In the last hours of the track, the two softer compounds were also tested, with longer runs. Antonelli tested the C4, while the C5s were fitted on Norris’ car. Over 2000 km in two days The British driver completed a total of 108 laps, equal to 556 kilometres, while the Italian completed 109 laps for a total of 561 kilometres. The best times of the day were 1’33”640 for the McLaren standard bearer and 1’32”990 for the Mercedes driver. Thus, 2,106 kilometers were covered in two days on the Eifel trail. The next appointment with the Pirelli development tests is scheduled for mid-May at Magny-Cours, where tests on wet tires will take place. The slick compounds for next season will instead return to the track in Barcelona, after the Grand Prix weekend.
