How many difficulties in Red Bull The Nurburgring parenthesis is over and for Max Verstappen it was time to return to the harsh reality of a Red Bull that does not satisfy him in terms of performance. The Sprint Qualifying of the Canadian GP clearly demonstrated the role of fourth force on the grid for the Milton Keynes team, with the Dutchman achieving the seventh fastest time, immediately ahead of his teammate Isack Hadjar. Interviewed by the official F1 channel at the end of the day, Verstappen did not hide the many problems plaguing the RB22. “Mercedes, McLaren and Ferrari in front? I’m not surprised – commented the four-time world champion – my feeling in the car wasn’t good. We struggled a lot with the set-up of the car. On all the bumps I couldn’t push to the maximum. This obviously made it very difficult to try to be consistent: it’s something we have to investigate. Do I move forward from FP1 to Which Sprints? No, not at all. Obviously for the Sprint we have the setup blocked, but there are a few things to analyze and then we hope that the situation will improve a little for qualifying.” Hadjar in contact with Max The difficulties were also highlighted by Isack Hadjar, who still managed to stay in contact with his teammate, registering just one tenth of a delay: “I felt strong in the first two phases of qualifying and I finally had a good feeling in SQ3, so I’m happy with that last lap, but I wasn’t able to test the soft tires enough during free practice and therefore I had few points of reference. We solved some problems we had in Miami, which is reassuring, but we’re still struggling with the set-up and losing a lot of time. Even if the grip is there, we can’t exploit it. It’s not a track that favors us, so it could be a bit of a complicated weekend.”
