What a show between the two great rivals Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen put on a great show in the opening stages of the Austrian GP. The two great rivals found themselves fighting for second position, defended by Hamilton at the end of a battle that lasted from Turn-3 to Turn-9. Max Verstappen attacked on the inside in Turn-3, giving the battery enough depth, Hamilton responded in the subsequent push towards Turn-4 which saw both come to a standstill. After crossing paths, Verstappen tried on the outside throughout the stretch of left-hand bends without finding the space needed to get the better of the Ferrari driver. Verstappen also asked for a penalty against Hamilton, but the Stewards returned the request for the Red Bull wall to the sender. Below are the data of the duel, and Federico Albano’s notes. Verstappen-Hamilton telemetry “The data from the Verstappen-Hamilton battle, it’s all incredible, from Verstappen pulling up to 339 kph when braking in 3, to Hamilton responding by exploiting the lack of energy on the descent towards 4 and then going around the corner with 6kph more minimum speed, up to the 7-8 when Max has to raise from 181 to 161 kph and again Verstappen using all the energy again up to 9, but Hamilton is super again in the last two corners with a transition to 10 11 kph faster than his Dutch rival”.
