Solera Autodata and Digidentity will introduce Australia’s first end-to-end Motor Vehicle Information Sharing Scheme (MVIS)-compliant solution for independent workshops from November 2025.
The integrated system enables controlled access to technical repair data for hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) servicing while ensuring compliance with safety-critical information requirements.
MVIS mandates that car manufacturers share technical repair data with independent workshops, but restricts access to safety-critical information to appropriately qualified technicians only.
The new solution combines Solera Autodata’s Workshop Application with the Digidentity Wallet app to streamline the compliance process. Garage owners can register their businesses, invite technicians to verify their identity and qualifications, and enable access to restricted content through the integrated platform.
“MVIS is about access to data but also about safety-critical data being accessed in a controlled manner,” said Chris Iacovou, Managing Director APAC at Solera Autodata.
“Our partnership with Digidentity ensures this is done efficiently,” he said.
Addressing qualification verification challenges
The solution addresses a key challenge for independent workshops in proving technician qualifications for advanced vehicle systems, particularly as EV adoption increases across Australia.
Fred Slikker, Managing Director at Digidentity, said the platform provides workshops with a streamlined way to demonstrate technician competency.
“We’re providing workshops a fast way to prove technicians are qualified for advanced systems. It’s about increased safety standards and trust,” Slikker said.
The controlled access approach is designed to reduce risks associated with EV repair work while building customer confidence in independent workshop capabilities.
Salim Arkadan, Director of Product Management at Solera Autodata, said the partnership establishes new benchmarks for the industry.
“Autodata’s partnership with Digidentity sets a new standard for compliant, easy access to EV data,” Arkadan said.
The solution will be available to independent repairers across Australia from November 2025, with plans to extend availability to New Zealand workshops.
