McLaren returns to dictate the law McLaren had underlined that a new version of the car would essentially arrive in Miami compared to the one seen in action in the first three races of the championship and the stopwatch immediately certified the quality of the step forward made by the Papaya team. Lando Norris signed the pole position in the Sprint Qualifying of the Miami GP and only a super Andrea Kimi Antonelli took away the entire front row from the Woking team. Norris commented on a very positive Friday: “We’ve come into this weekend having worked hard on these updates, but you can never be sure what to expect until the car is on the track. I’m incredibly happy for the whole team because, from the first lap, we felt like we had taken a step forward. It gave me the confidence I was looking for, allowing me to push hard and exploit its potential straight away. It’s a great start, and it’s nice to be in the thick of the fight, but let’s keep our feet on the ground. The fight has been incredibly tight, with several teams looking fast, and we know there are still many unknowns, especially regarding race pace. We are still learning how to get the most out of this new package, but we have made the best possible start. For now, I am happy with what we have achieved and we will focus on improving further ahead of the sprint and qualifying for the Grand Prix tomorrow.”
